Atomic Force Microscope: This instrument provides images for 3D surface topography at the Nanoscale level. KCI's work included industrial design for professional appearance and design for production utilizing inexpensive manufacturing techniques consistent with the relatively low annual production rate planned for the product.

Invention, Engineering, Design & Prototyping

Working with a client to expand his market, we invented, developed and prototyped this Solar Food-Waste-to-Motor Fuel Biomass Convertor.

Solar Food Waste-to-Motor-Fuel-Biomass-Converter - Invention, Engineering, Design and Prototyping: Invented to provide the individual server with the means to convert food and garden waste to motor fuel using only solar energy. After fermentation, the resulting low-proof alcohol solution is distilled into 170 proof in the boiler and column at the reflector's focus. The mirror follows the sun sing a solar motor.

Firebomber Environmentally Controlled Aerodynamic Cockpit: Industrial Design and Full-Size Tooling. Crop dusters and fire bombers operating in a toxic environment require an air conditioned cockpit enclosure with remote air intakes. This cockpit canopy was also designed to reduce drag in flight. It was designed and a full-size tooling plug was created to insure the fidelity of this form.

Industrial Soldering System – apperance design and housing upgrade for industrial soldering system produced by a Japanese company aimed at the American market. Work involved industrial design consistent with dimensional requirements, operator convenienve, small volume and ease of manufacture.

Third World UV Water Purifier - Mechanical Engineering, Design for Production at Controlled Cost: Starting with a working model developed by Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories, Keck-Craig developed a low-cost production design for a water purifier utilizing ultraviolet disinfection techniques to reduce water borne bacteria and viruses by 99.9995%. Unit capacity is four gallons per minute and low power, gravity feed and simple construction make the unit ideal for use in rural communities in developing nations.

Restaurant Ware - Industrial Design and Design for Production: A classically simple design developed more than 40 years ago. Seen all over in coffee shops, pancake houses, roadside restaurants, hospitals and cafeterias. Still selling worldwide - more than 16 million produced to date.

Shrimp Deveiner – Mechanism & Industrial Design: Electric machine designed to eliminate hazards of hand cutting and deveining raw shrimp. The unit slices through the shell and deveins up to 100 shrimp per minute. Shrimp are inserted between the feeder disks to guide them over a circular stainless steel cutter blade rotating at 2800 rpm. Adjustability of the cutting depth permits a variety of cuts (deveining, butterfly or fully split).
